5081D Modular Belt With Side Guards

5081D combines a modular carrying surface with projecting guard components. Guard position and clear carrying space need to suit the product and the way it enters and leaves the belt.

Specify the Guard Arrangement on a Drawing

Show the travel direction and the guarded edges. Confirm which projections must retain products and which must clear fixed conveyor parts.

Define the Clear Carrying Space

Guard components form boundaries around the product-carrying area. Their placement reduces the clear space available for products and affects how they pass guides or adjacent equipment.

The 5081 family uses a modular body, with PP as its default material. A guarded assembly needs its own layout review. Specify the guard arrangement with the travel direction marked so the product-retention requirement is clear.

Trace the Guards Around the Belt Circuit

Measure usable carrying width between the required guards. Check loading access and the point at which products must leave the guarded area.

Trace each projection around the end turn and return. Cross-members and trays must clear that moving outline. For a replacement, include top and underside photographs so the guard and drive arrangements can be checked together.

Keep Products Within a Bounded Carrying Area

Guards can help define where products remain on the belt during travel. Loading alignment still matters: a product placed across a boundary can contact the projection rather than settle onto the carrying face.

At discharge, the product needs a clear release path. Consider whether it leaves in the travel direction or crosses a belt edge, because the required opening differs between those motions.
