Carry a Broad Base on a Straight Chain
The 821 combines a wide carrying plate with two hinge positions across the underside. That construction makes the support and drive layout part of the width choice. Compare the underside section directly when replacing an existing wide top chain.
The three widths share a listed 2,680 N working-load reference at 21 °C. Their masses differ. A larger plate adds carrying area and moving chain mass, so increasing width does not establish a higher permissible payload.

Check the 38.1 mm pitch and double-hinge geometry against the sprocket arrangement. The listed 50 mm backflex radius concerns the return path; transfer support requires its own check with the product base.
Support Wide Packs Between Machines
A broad, flat-bottomed pack needs support across more of its base than a narrow chain provides. The 821 offers a straight moving surface for that type of lane.
At a handoff, a pack may bridge both conveyors for a short distance. Align their support heights and check the gap under the leading edge. Uneven loading across a wide plate also needs attention when the product sits off the lane center.
