83R Roller Top Flexible Chain

The 83R places rolling elements above a flexible POM chain body. The rolling contact lets a supported product move relative to the chain, making this surface worth considering where products queue before a downstream station.

Check the Contact Beneath the Product

The product base must bridge the rolling elements and remain stable when it stops or restarts.

Rolling Contact on an Articulated Chain

83R combines a moving chain with rolling product contact. When a product is restrained at a stop, the contact elements can turn beneath it. This changes the way the chain contacts a waiting product; the base shape and the freedom of the rolling elements still determine how it behaves.

The articulated body follows the conveyor route while the upper contact pattern carries the product. A flat-bottomed carrier and a small container may bridge that pattern differently. Check the smallest base in the product range, especially where the chain enters a curve or transfers to a solid surface.

Specifications

83R Material and Operating Data

ParameterSpecification
ModelSpecification: 83R
BodySpecification: POM
Pin materialSpecification: SUS201
ColourSpecification: White
Reference chain massSpecification: 2.00 kg/m / 1.344 lb/ft
Listed tensile loadSpecification: <5,000 N / <1,124 lbf
Listed conveyor lengthSpecification: ≤12 m / ≤39.37 ft
Listed speedSpecification: ≤50 m/min / ≤164.04 ft/min
Listed service temperatureSpecification: −20 to 90 °C / −4 to 194 °F

These operating values require review together for the proposed duty. Tensile force is distinct from the weight of product carried. Speeds above 30 m/min and frequent starts or stops need application review.

Check the Track and the Product Base

Compare a dimensioned sample with the installed track before ordering a replacement. Confirm the finished carrying width and link pitch, then check horizontal turning space and the vertical return path separately.

At a stop, test whether the base rests on enough rolling elements to resist rocking. At discharge, align the receiving surface with the product contact height and check that the base crosses the gap without catching.

Queuing Before a Packing or Assembly Station

An accumulation section lets upstream transport continue while a downstream operation pauses. With 83R, the rolling surface provides relative movement beneath the waiting product. Stop position and guide spacing matter because the product is no longer held solely by friction against a moving solid top.

The same freedom of movement affects release. A tall or narrow product needs controlled guidance as it leaves the queue, and a small base needs a transfer arrangement that maintains support.
