5083W Ball Top Modular Belt

5083W uses projecting balls within a modular carrying body. The ball contacts allow relative movement in different horizontal directions when the product and supporting arrangement permit it.

Plan Restraint as Well as Movement

A product that can move on ball contacts needs guides or stops to establish its path. Check how it is received and held at the next station.

Support the Base on Ball Contacts

5083W distributes ball contacts across the modular surface. Each ball can rotate in more than one direction, allowing the product to move relative to the belt where the surrounding conveyor arrangement permits.

The contact pattern determines which products remain supported. A rigid broad base can reach several balls; a small foot or soft underside can contact the surrounding module instead. The transfer layout needs to account for that difference.

Match the Contact Pattern to the Product

Overlay the smallest base on the ball layout. Check contact in both normal and rotated positions, including the instant when part of the base passes onto the receiving surface.

Review the underside track and the clearance around projecting contacts. The 51 mm backflex radius concerns reverse bending of the assembly; it does not establish a per-ball carrying rating.

Allow Reorientation at a Conveyor Handoff

Ball contact can support a product that needs to change its direction or orientation relative to belt travel. The guides and receiving surface establish the intended motion; the ball top provides the contact arrangement.

On a merging or positioning section, consider how the product is restrained after it reaches the desired location. A freely moving base can drift until a guide or stop acts on it. No driven turning or sorting function is assumed from the belt alone.
