Sprockets for Plastic Modular Belts

CSTRANS supplies modular-belt sprockets in machined and injection-moulded constructions, with one-piece and split options across the range. The belt's drive geometry and shaft arrangement determine the required configuration.

Identify the Belt Before Choosing the Sprocket Body

Pitch, underside drive features and shaft fit must agree. Similar-looking teeth do not establish a matched belt and sprocket.

Choose the Engagement, Manufacturing Method and Mounting

A modular belt engages its sprockets through the underside of the modules. Establish the exact belt reference and drive-feature layout before choosing a tooth form. The shaft then determines the bore, torque connection and locating arrangement.

Machined and moulded sprockets are separate configuration choices. A split body can also change the installation sequence compared with a one-piece part. Confirm which constructions are available for the required belt and shaft; the range-wide options do not form a universal combination list.

Check How the Sprocket Reaches Its Shaft Position

For a one-piece body, review access along the shaft during assembly. For a split configuration, check assembly space and the required body connections. Specify the selected construction with the belt reference.

Provide tooth count, bore shape and dimensions, then show the required keyway or bearing seat where applicable. Establish axial location and the contact positions across the belt before finalizing a set.

Configure a Replacement Set for the Installed Conveyor

Replacing modular-belt sprockets requires both belt engagement and practical access to the shaft. A body construction that suits the tooth form may still require a different installation sequence on a crowded drive assembly.

For a belt-family change, review the complete sprocket set and its positions beneath the new belt. Existing shaft dimensions alone cannot establish whether the old tooth geometry remains suitable.
